Kenna Security and VMware Carbon Black Collaborate to Provide Risk Prioritization to Cloud Workloads
Share with Your Network
The challenge of cloud-based applications is that workloads may move through several different environments that can be owned and operated by vendors with different technology. With the cloud there are no well-defined boundaries. VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload is a product that has been designed from the ground up to protect cloud workloads that operate in complex heterogeneous environments.
Kenna Security and VMware: The second chapter
Partnering with VMware is not new for Kenna Security. Last year, we teamed up to add risk-based vulnerability management (RBVM) capabilities to VMware AppDefense so working with VMware Carbon Black was a natural follow-on.
One of the key advantages to VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload is that users no longer have to use a separate agent or scanner to scan cloud workloads because that data is already collected by VMware with vSphere. Working with Kenna, VMware wanted to ensure customers did not need to install yet another agent on their cloud workloads, and better yet, be able to conduct true risk-based vulnerability management.
The simplicity and ease-of-use of a comprehensive cloud security platform like VMware Carbon Black coupled with Kenna’s rigorous data science-based approach to risk prioritization make a great match—every VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload user can easily identify the true risk of every cloud workload, with easy-to-understand risk scores and detailed intelligence to help teams focus on the vulnerabilities that matter, remediate faster, and align the entire business around a common objective.
VMware Carbon Black integrates RBVM
Kenna Security’s core vulnerability management platform, Kenna.VM functions as a natural extension of VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload, providing efficient and focused vulnerability risk prioritization.
VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload is a cloud-native platform delivering best-in-class, next-generation cloud workload protection without compromising system performance. VMware Carbon Black Cloud consolidates multiple security capabilities using one agent and console, helping you operate faster and more effectively. As part of VMware’s intrinsic security approach, VMware Carbon Black Cloud spans the system hardening and threat prevention workflow to accelerate response and defend against threats.
VMware Carbon Black works to solve a variety of issues by taking an intrinsic view on security for cloud workloads. Their vision is to bring as much security functionality into one tool as possible to address complexity, efficiency, and collaboration challenges. Kenna’s tenets of focusing on quality over quantity, using data science to improve efficiency, and improving collaboration by bridging the IT and Security team gap are in line with VMware Carbon Black’s goals of enabling Cloud Workload with RBVM capabilities to focus on the risks that matter most.
With Kenna risk prioritization, VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload can easily identify the vulnerabilities that pose real risk to an organization so that limited resources can be focused. Kenna allows the user to concentrate on their critical threats when prioritizing vulnerability risks leading to significant savings in resources and time, and making the most meaningful impact on risk reduction.
Teams getting the best of both worlds
By integrating Kenna’s vulnerability prioritization and patch recommendations into VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload, teams will get the benefit of aligning vulnerability intelligence with VMware Carbon Black’s foundational workspace hardening and industry-leading prevention, detection and response capabilities to protect workloads running in hybrid cloud and Kubernetes environments.
We are absolutely thrilled to be teaming up once again with VMware, an industry leader that shares our perspective on the transformative power of reducing complexity, with a relentless focus on efficiency by focusing on a quality over quantity approach to reduce vulnerability risk. This collaboration on VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload is a game changer for users and will make their cybersecurity program more efficient and effective.
Better results with less effort to reduce vulnerability risk, focus on quality over quantity, and reduce the friction between IT and Security teams – a truly potent combination.
